ARRB2 promotes colorectal cancer growth through triggering WTAP

Hongguang Liang et al.

Summary: In this study, it was found that the upregulation of ARRB2 in CRC was associated with patient survival, promoting cell growth and migration while inhibiting apoptosis. Suppression of ARRB2 expression attenuated CRC progression, demonstrating its role in regulating cancer pathways through WTAP expression.

Global cancer statistics 2020: GLOBOCAN estimates of incidence and mortality worldwide for 36 cancers in 185 countries

Hyuna Sung et al.

Summary: The global cancer burden in 2020 saw an estimated 19.3 million new cancer cases and almost 10.0 million cancer deaths. Female breast cancer surpassed lung cancer as the most commonly diagnosed cancer, while lung cancer remained the leading cause of cancer death. These trends are expected to rise in 2040, with transitioning countries experiencing a larger increase compared to transitioned countries due to demographic changes and risk factors associated with globalization and a growing economy. Efforts to improve cancer prevention measures and provision of cancer care in transitioning countries will be crucial for global cancer control.

Mitotic chromosomes

James R. Paulson et al.

Summary: Our understanding of the structure and function of mitotic chromosomes has significantly progressed over the years, with key non-histone proteins and protein complexes playing important roles in chromosome formation. Condensins I and II shape the chromosome and scaffold through an ATP-dependent process called loop extrusion, ultimately compacting the mitotic chromosome with the help of Topo II alpha.

The Role of p53 Signaling in Colorectal Cancer

Magdalena C. Liebl et al.

Summary: The transcription factor p53 is a crucial tumor suppressor that is often mutated or dysregulated in colorectal cancer (CRC), promoting tumorigenesis. Mutations in p53 reduce its tumor suppressor activity and can even provide neo-morphic functions that contribute to cancer development.

CEA, EpCAM, αvβ6 and uPAR Expression in Rectal Cancer Patients with a Pathological Complete Response after Neoadjuvant Therapy

Daan Linders et al.

Summary: Rectal cancer patients with a complete response after neoadjuvant therapy show low expression of CEA and EpCAM in the primary tumor bed compared to the diagnostic biopsy and adjacent mucosa, indicating their potential as suitable targets for response evaluation.
