High-Performance Ketone Sensing in Vapor Phase Enabled by o-Carborane-Modified Cyclometalated Alkynyl-Gold(III) Complex-Based Fluorescent Films

Jing Zhang et al.

Summary: The utilization of a film-based fluorescent sensor as a GC detector is reported for the first time, with the newly synthesized Au-CB showing remarkable aggregation-induced emission (ME) property that is highly sensitive to ketones. The film sensor demonstrated instant and fully reversible response to ketones with detection limits lower than 0.08 and 13.0 ppm for cyclohexanone and acetone, respectively, making it a promising alternative to commercial detectors for specific miniaturized GCs.

Tuning Organic Room-Temperature Phosphorescence through the Confinement Effect of Inorganic Micro/Nanostructures

Qiuqin Huang et al.

Summary: Organic room-temperature phosphorescence (RTP), especially ultralong organic RTP (UOP), has great potential in fields such as flexible intelligent information encryption, optical anticounterfeiting, and biological imaging. Various strategies have been implemented to improve phosphorescence quantum yield and lifetime, with the confinement effect of inorganic micro/nanostructures being particularly effective. The confinement of inorganic frameworks can enhance the efficiency and lifetime of RTP for organic phosphors, as well as the interactions between organic and inorganic components.

Organic room-temperature phosphorescence from halogen-bonded organic frameworks: hidden electronic effects in rigidified chromophores

Jiawang Zhou et al.

Summary: Development of new organic phosphorescent materials with high quantum yields was achieved by introducing various bromo substituents to modulate intermolecular halogen-bonding interactions. Strategic heavy-atom positioning was found to suppress non-radiative relaxation and enhance intersystem crossing, facilitated by the orbital angular momentum change. Results suggest the potential of multivalent noncovalent interactions for excited-state conformation and electronic control.
