Foams with Enhanced Rheology for Stopping Bleeding

Hema Choudhary et al.

Summary: This paper introduces a new class of foams with enhanced rheological properties that can form a more effective barrier to blood loss at injury sites, suitable for curtailing bleeding in the torso region. These aqueous foams are delivered through a double-barrelled syringe by combining precursors that produce gas bubbles in situ, containing a cationic polymer and an anionic polymer with hemostatic properties. Rheological studies contrast the improved rheology of these foams with the traditional foams, and animal wound models confirm their greater mechanical integrity in curtailing bleeding.

Tunable Sponge-Like Hierarchically Porous Hydrogels with Simultaneously Enhanced Diffusivity and Mechanical Properties

Yousif Alsaid et al.

Summary: A universal approach called cononsolvency photopolymerization has been developed to overcome the trade-off between swelling and mechanical properties in hydrogels. By using this method, hydrogels with unique open porous networks and continuous microchannels are created, resulting in record-high volumetric (de)swelling speeds.
