A 3D chemotactic-thermo-promo bacterial hunting system: Programmatic bacterial attract, capture, killing and healing the wound

Ling Xiao et al.

Summary: A smart nanohybrid has been developed to hunt and kill multidrug-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa using photothermal therapy, with additional anti-inflammatory and pro-cell proliferation effects during wound healing. This antibiotic-free nanohybrid shows promise in avoiding tissue damage and eliminating bacteria without leaving drug residue in the tissue.

Investigation of the Characteristics and Antibacterial Activity of Polymer-Modified Copper Oxide Nanoparticles

Nan-Fu Chen et al.

Summary: In this study, CuO nanoparticles were synthesized via hydrothermal synthesis and then modified with different polymers to optimize bacteriostatic effects. Among them, PDA-modified CuO NPs showed excellent antibacterial activity with a bacteriostatic rate of 85.8%. Their superior performance can be attributed to their smaller size, surface charge, and favorable van der Waals interactions at pH 7.4, which increased their affinity for the lipopolysaccharide-containing outer membrane of E. coli.

Copper Clusters: An Effective Antibacterial for Eradicating Multidrug-Resistant Bacterial Infection In Vitro and In Vivo

Xiangchun Zhang et al.

Summary: CuCs is a novel antibacterial molecule with broad-spectrum and excellent antibacterial activity, able to disrupt bacterial wall structure, regulate GSH/GSSG ratio, induce reactive oxygen species production, and ultimately lead to bacterial death. In vivo studies in mice demonstrate that CuCs can significantly treat skin wound infections and sepsis caused by MRSA, with similar therapeutic efficacy as mupirocin ointment and vancomycin. Compared to silver and platinum clusters, CuCs show extremely low cytotoxicity to normal mammalian cells.

3D coating layers of polyhydroquinone di-imidazopyridine (PIPD) fibers to improve their mechanical, interfacial and antimicrobial properties

Nadia Taloub et al.

Summary: The growth of CuO nanowires and Ag nanoparticles on the surface of PIPD fiber significantly enhanced interfacial and mechanical performance, as well as antimicrobial activity. The interface shear strength and fiber tensile strength were improved, along with increased resistance to UV radiation and hydrothermal degradation for the PIPD fiber.

Realizing selective detection with nanozymes: Strategies and trends

Xin Li et al.

Summary: Nanozymes, as nanomaterials with enzyme-like properties, show great potential in various applications, especially in high-sensitivity detection. However, the lack of catalytic specificity is a major challenge for nanozymes in sensing. Strategies to improve specificity and achieve selective detection are crucial for the practical use of nanozymes.
