Utilization of 1-butylpyrrolidinium Chloride Ionic Liquid as an Eco-friendly Corrosion Inhibitor and Biocide for Oilfield Equipment: Combined Weight Loss, Electrochemical and SEM Studies

Mohamed A. Abbas et al.

Summary: The commercially available ionic liquid 1-butylpyrrolidinium chloride has shown excellent inhibiting effects on carbon steel corrosion in 3.5% NaCl medium, with protection performance increasing with concentration and temperature. The adsorption behavior of the inhibitor is of mixed type, and there is strong interaction between inhibitor molecules and the carbon steel surface in a predominantly chemisorption manner, while also exhibiting antibacterial activity.

Synthesis, experimental, and computational studies of water soluble anthranilic organoselenium compounds as safe corrosion inhibitors for J55 pipeline steel in acidic oilfield formation water

Hany M. Abd El-Lateef et al.

Summary: This study investigated the corrosion protection properties of two water-soluble organoselenium compounds based on anthranilic acid for J55 steel in simulated acidic oilfield formation water. The results showed that the diselenide-based anthranilic acid AnSe-SeAn exhibited higher protection capacity compared to the selenocyanate analog AnSe, with protection efficacy increasing in a concentration-dependent manner. Surface morphology inspections confirmed the formation of a protective film on the steel surface, shielding it from corrosion at the optimal dose. Computational studies were also conducted to identify the active sites on the molecules responsible for adsorption and protection of the steel surface.

Synergistic inhibition effect of novel counterion-coupled surfactant based on rice bran oil and halide ion on the C-steel corrosion in molar sulphuric acid: Experimental and computational approaches

Summary: The study found that the RBOS-12 surfactant has an inhibition capacity of 95.5% at a concentration of 1.0 x 10(-3) M, and when combined with chloride ions, the corrosion inhibition capacity can be as high as 99.1%. The RBOS-12/Cl- system adsorbs onto the metal interface through mainly chemisorption, showing good corrosion inhibition properties.
