A cross-national examination of cannabis protective behavioral strategies' role in the relationship between Big Five personality traits and cannabis outcomes

Luke Herchenroeder et al.

Summary: The study found that cannabis protective behavioral strategies mediate the relationship between personality traits and cannabis outcomes, but there are nuanced differences across countries. Overall, students who are low in conscientiousness, agreeableness, and neuroticism and/or report low rates of PBS use may benefit from cannabis PBS-focused interventions.

A systematic review and meta-analysis on the association between solitary drinking and alcohol problems in adults

Carillon J. Skrzynski et al.

Summary: The study suggests that solitary drinking in adults is associated with a small positive link to alcohol problems, with males more likely to report drinking alone and married individuals less likely to do so. The overall study quality is generally low, with the majority of studies being cross-sectional in nature.

Does the Combination Matter? Examining the Influence of Alcohol and Cannabis Product Combinations on Simultaneous Use and Consequences in Daily Life

Angela K. Stevens et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the effects of different alcohol and cannabis product combinations on consumption and consequences among college student SAM users. The findings suggest that using multiple alcohol products increases the risk of negative consequences, while combining beer with only one cannabis product can lower the risk of consequences. Mixing alcohol products poses greater risk for negative consequences and heavier consumption, whereas there is little difference in cannabis consumption when using concentrate only vs. 2 cannabis products on a given day, except for concentrate + beer.
