A parametric study on the design factors influencing the thermal performance of nickel alloy C263 sandwich panels

T. Mahender et al.

Summary: In this study, the effect of six important design parameters on the thermal performance and density of nickel alloy C263 sandwich panels was evaluated using the Taguchi-based design of experiments approach. The results were analyzed using statistical analysis techniques to determine the optimal combination of design parameters and their influence on the performance of the sandwich panels. An algebraic model was used to identify the optimum combination of design parameters that provides the best thermal performance with the lowest density. The results are presented and discussed in this paper.

Zr-Nb Alloys and Its Hot Deformation Analysis Approaches

Kuldeep K. Saxena et al.

Summary: Zr and its alloys are strategic materials for the nuclear industry, mainly used to manufacture reactor tubes. The properties of the end component depend on the material processing route and final microstructure, with microstructure control being crucial for optimizing mechanical properties. Understanding the dominant deformation mechanisms during hot deformation is key to controlling the final microstructure and various restoration mechanisms exist for different Zr-alloys. Techniques such as stress-strain analysis and processing maps play a crucial role in studying hot deformation behaviors of materials, and findings from processing maps provide valuable insights for safe processing parameters and activation energies in Zr-Nb alloys.

Comparative study of metamodeling methods for modeling the constitutive relationships of the TC6 titanium alloy

Zenan Shen et al.

Summary: In this study, the flow behavior of TC6 titanium alloy was modeled through experiments and metamodeling methods such as the response surface method, the Kriging method, and the BP neural network. The results showed that these methods outperformed the traditional Arrhenius model, with the response surface and Kriging methods exhibiting better fitting accuracy and stability.

Construction of hot deformation processing maps for 9Cr-1 Mo steel through conventional and ANN approach

Sumit Kumar et al.

Summary: The study analyzed the hot deformed flow curves of a 9Cr-1Mo steel using constitutive and artificial neural network approaches. It compared the corrections of flow stress made by ANN and conventional methods, as well as the predicted flow stress data obtained from established constitutive equation. The results showed that the ANN approach provided more precise results compared to the conventional method, especially when analyzing the safe and unsafe domains of the maps with corresponding microstructures.

On the optimization of temperature and cooling rate to maximize strength and ductility of near α titanium alloy IMI 834

T. Mahender et al.

Summary: The microstructural features of titanium alloys are influenced by post deformation heat treatment parameters, which in turn affect the mechanical properties. This study evaluated the effects of solution treatment temperature and cooling rate on the microstructure and room temperature tensile properties of an α/β titanium alloy, and attempted to establish the correlation between heat treatment parameters and resulting tensile properties using response surface methodology.

Predictions of elemental composition of coal and biomass from their proximate analyses using ANFIS, ANN and MLR

Abiodun Ismail Lawal et al.

Summary: In this study, predictive models for the elemental composition of coal and biomass were developed using soft computing and regression analyses. Multiple prediction models were established using samples and various prediction performance indices were used to test the reliability of the models, which were found to be satisfactory for practical purposes.
