Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on change in sleep patterns in an exploratory, cross-sectional online sample of 79 countries

Megan E. Petrov et al.

Summary: The study described changes in sleep patterns during the COVID-19 pandemic and developed 4 sleep pattern change profiles. Findings revealed delayed sleep midpoint, reductions in total sleep time and sleep efficiency, increased nightmares and nap frequency, with widespread insomnia and depressive symptoms. Differences in sleep pattern response to the pandemic suggest potential targets for behavioral sleep health interventions.
