Intensity of Leisure-Time Physical Activity and Dimensions of Mental Well-Being: A Reciprocal Approach Using Parallel Latent Growth Curve Modeling

Changwook Kim et al.

Summary: This study empirically examined the longitudinal effect of leisure-time physical activity (LTPA) on mental well-being, finding that the intensity of LTPA was associated with changes in distinct functions of mental well-being over time. Moderate LTPA was related to growth in psychological and social functioning, while vigorous LTPA was only related to growth in emotional functioning. These findings contribute to a better understanding of the longitudinal impact of LTPA on mental well-being.
