Further Insights Into Caprine Arthritis Encephalitis (CAE): The Current Status of Seroprevalence Among Small Ruminants in Two Selected States of Peninsular Malaysia

Bura Thlama Paul et al.

Summary: The study revealed a high seroprevalence of CAE among sheep and goat herds in Peninsular Malaysia, with significant differences in seroconversion rates between states, farms, production systems, and breeds of small ruminants. Further research is needed to understand the genetic characteristics, distribution, and risk factors of CAEV for effective prevention and control in Malaysia.

Comparative estimation of colostrum quality by Brix refractometry in bovine, caprine, and ovine colostrum

E. C. Kessler et al.

Summary: The study compared the quality estimation of colostrum in cows, goats, and sheep using an optical Brix refractometer. Despite distinct between-species variations in colostrum composition, Brix refractometry proved to be an acceptable tool for on-farm estimations of colostrum quality in goats and sheep.

Effects of Litter Size and Parity Number on Mammary Secretions Including, Insulin-Like Growth Factor-1, Immunoglobulin G and Vitamin A of Black Bengal, Saanen and Their Crossbred Goats in Thailand

Chollada Buranakarl et al.

Summary: The study found similar composition of colostrum among different goat breeds, but the crossbred BBSA had higher levels of IGF-1, IgG, and Vitamin A compared to BB and SA. Additionally, colostrum from goats with higher parity numbers contained more IgG content.
