What Predicts the Physical Activity Intention-Behavior Gap? A Systematic Review

Ryan E. Rhodes et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the variables that moderate the relationship between intention and physical activity using the COM-B model. It found that sociodemographic and personality factors played a role as moderators, while physical capability and environmental opportunity did not show significant interactions. Key factors in reflective and automatic motivation were identified as moderators of the intention-physical activity relationship. The findings suggest that traditional intention theories may need to incorporate these key moderators for a more comprehensive understanding of behavior.
