Positionality practices and dimensions of impact on equity research: A collaborative inquiry and call to the community

Stephen Secules et al.

Summary: This study examines the impact of positionality on research in engineering education, particularly focusing on demographic identity dimensions. The role of recognition in disciplinary identity for girls

Roxanne Hughes et al.

Summary: Computing fields are the only STEM discipline to consistently decrease women's representation since 1990, with underrepresentation attributed to stereotypes and lack of access to technology from an early age. Informal coding education programs have the potential to improve girls' coding identities and a conceptual framework based on research can guide future studies in this area.

The Relevance of Childhood Science Talk as a Proxy for College Students' STEM Identity at a Hispanic Serving Institution

Remy Dou et al.

Summary: The study found that informal STEM learning experiences in discussing science with friends and family were closely associated with Hispanic/Latino students' identification with STEM, particularly in discussions with close family members. Therefore, there is a need to strengthen the connection between science learning experiences and home culture.
