Interregional supply chains of Chinese mineral resource requirements

Xudong Sun et al.

Summary: This study examines the interregional supply chains of Chinese mineral resource requirements in 2012, finding that investment is the most crucial demand category for most provinces and the Construction sector is the biggest user of embodied mineral resources in all regions. It also reveals that Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, and Shaanxi are the main suppliers of mineral resources for other regions.

Natural resource, globalization, urbanization, human capital, and environmental degradation in Latin American and Caribbean countries

Solomon P. Nathaniel et al.

Summary: The study examines the relationship between natural resource exploration, globalization, urbanization, and environmental degradation in Latin American and Caribbean countries. It finds that human capital plays a moderating role in reducing carbon dioxide emissions, and there is a causal link between economic growth and emissions. The study suggests promoting sustainable growth-driven industries and enhancing human capital to mitigate CO(2) emissions in the region.

Evaluating Ecological Footprints through Inbound Tourism, Population Density, and Global Trade

Muhammad Khalid Anser et al.

Summary: Man-made actions such as an increase in international tourism, population density pressure on arable land, and global trade are the main factors contributing to environmental damages and 'ecological footprints'. The study found that inbound tourism is the main detrimental factor causing ecological footprints, and there is an inverted U-shaped relationship between inbound tourism, population density, and economic growth with ecological footprints. Granger causality results showed no causal relationship between tourism and growth, but there is a bidirectional relationship between trade and inbound tourism. Sustainable tourism policies are crucial in limiting ecological footprints worldwide.

Remittance inflows affect the ecological footprint in BICS countries: do technological innovation and financial development matter?

Bo Yang et al.

Summary: This study reveals that remittance inflows and financial development have a negative impact on environmental quality, while technological innovations are crucial for reducing ecological footprint. Country-wise analysis shows that technological innovations promote environmental sustainability, and the environmental Kuznets curve (EKC) hypothesis is validated across the BICS economies.

Summary: This paper uses an exergy-based approach to study the global resource flows and stocks, indicating that while there has been an improvement in resource use efficiency, it still falls short of achieving the climate goals for 2060. Future research needs to explore the relationship between resource flow intensity and stock intensity to meet sustainability targets.

Does green investment, financial development and natural resources rent limit carbon emissions? A provincial panel analysis of China

Yijuan Shen et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of natural resources rent, green investment, financial development, and energy consumption on carbon emissions in China. Results show that energy consumption and financial development have a positive impact on carbon emissions, while green investment is negatively correlated and natural resources rent is positively associated with carbon emissions. Recommendations include strengthening natural resource tax laws and promoting green investment and environmental policies to control carbon emissions.
