Understanding the public attitudinal acceptance of digital farming technologies: a nationwide survey in Germany

Summary: Research shows that the German public generally have a positive attitude towards the potential benefits of digital farming technologies, especially in terms of animal welfare and environmental protection. Most respondents also support increasing adoption rates of specific digital farming technologies with subsidies. Despite the overall positive attitude towards agriculture, many individuals expressed criticism after being confronted with the negative effects of digitalized agricultural production.

A framework has been developed to gain insight on the relations between social, cyber, and physical aspects, and conditions for successful digital transformation have been described, focusing on design, access, and system complexity navigation. This framework provides a better understanding of moral responsibilities in digital transformation and helps identify who is responsible for the impacts.

German Farmers' Attitudes on Adopting Autonomous Field Robots: An Empirical Survey
