Can Training Enhance Public Employees' Public Service Motivation? A Pretest-Posttest Design

Chung-An Chen et al.

Summary: This study examines the impact of training on public service motivation, knowledge, and attitudes using a case of onboard training in Taiwan. The results suggest that knowledge and attitudes can be more easily trained than public service motivation. Training satisfaction is linked to the growth of public service-related knowledge, while perceived training usefulness is associated with a positive attitude toward public service work and public service motivation. These findings contribute to understanding the effectiveness of public service training and its implications for public employees' orientations.
