The match between business model design and knowledge base in firm growth: from a knowledge-based view

Summary: This research examines the impact of knowledge change and reorganisation on the success of business model (BM) design, and finds that efficiency-centered BM design benefits more from a deep knowledge base, while novelty-centered BM design benefits from both broad and deep knowledge bases. These results offer new empirical evidence on the contingency effects of knowledge base on the effectiveness of BM design for firm growth.

These alliances not only provide general benefits, but also promote communication and learning with competitors. However, competition within these alliances also poses challenges for member firms. This study investigates the benefits and costs of competition for firm innovation in cooperative R&D consortia and identifies the boundary conditions to amplify the advantages of competition.

Simulation and Relationship Strength: Characteristics of Knowledge Flows Among Subjects in a Regional Innovation System
