A deep learning potential applied in tobermorite phases and extended to calcium silicate hydrates

Yang Zhou et al.

Summary: Based on first-principle simulations, machine learning potentials (MLPs) are used to accurately predict complex material systems and efficiently perform molecular dynamics (MD) computations. In this study, MLPs of different lengths of tobermorite are constructed using the Deep Potential (DP) method and their accuracy and efficiency are assessed through MD simulations. The results show that MLPs exhibit high consistency with ab initio MD simulations in terms of accuracy, while being 2 to 3 orders of magnitude faster. Additionally, the MLPs are applied to the calcium silica hydrates system, and the calculated structure and mechanical properties align well with experimental results, demonstrating the feasibility and accuracy of MLPs for larger scale MD simulations on cement-based materials.

Cs retention and diffusion in C-S-H at different Ca/Si ratio

Eduardo Duque-Redondo et al.

Summary: Cement and concrete are commonly used in the construction of repository sites for radioactive wastes, requiring good adsorption and low diffusion rates for proper isolation. Molecular dynamics simulations were used to study the influence of composition on Cs retention capacities and diffusivity in C-S-H gel pores, showing that higher Ca/Si ratios worsen Cs ion adsorption but increase hydrophilicity, leading to higher ordering and lower diffusion coefficients.

Enhancing the PVA fiber-matrix interface properties in ultra high performance concrete: An experimental and molecular dynamics study

Yang Zhou et al.

Summary: The study investigates the use of nano-silica particles treated PVA fibers to enhance interface properties in ultra-high-performance-concrete (UHPC). Through a comprehensive analysis and molecular dynamics simulations, it is found that the modification method significantly improves the compressive and flexural strength of UHPC.

Silane Coupling Agent Modification Treatment to Improve the Properties of Rubber-Cement Composites

Jiao Yu et al.

Summary: This study conducted a multi-scale exploration of SCA-modified rubber-cement-based materials through a combination of experiments and simulations for the first time, and found that KH570 modification can effectively improve the mechanical properties of rubber-cement-based composites. KH570 molecules can repair interfacial defects between rubber particles and cementitious material, enhancing the bonding strength between the two phases.
