Damage evaluation and deformation behavior of mine tailing-based Geopolymer under uniaxial cyclic compression

Nan Zhang et al.

Summary: Geopolymerized mine tailings can be used for construction materials with significant strength values, but their exposure to cyclic loading is a potential hazard. This study found that NaOH molarity significantly affects the elastic and plastic strains of geopolymer specimens. The Young's modulus of geopolymers shows an increase followed by a decrease with cycles, influenced by the NaOH molarity.

The effect of steam curing regimes on the chloride resistance and pore size of high-strength green concrete

Abdullah M. Zeyad et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effect of steam curing regimes (SCRs) on high-strength green concrete (HSGC) incorporating ultrafine palm oil fuel ash (U-POFA) as a partial substitute for cement. The results showed that using a high volume of U-POFA in HSGC led to improved compressive strength, chloride resistance, and microstructure properties at different ages, with the enhancement being influenced by U-POFA replacement rates, temperature, and steam curing period.

Circular economy and durability in geopolymers ceramics pieces obtained from glass polishing waste

Afonso R. G. de Azevedo et al.

Summary: The research evaluated the development of a circular economy in producing roof tiles by incorporating glass polishing waste into ceramic pieces. Two methodologies were used to evaluate the sample's durability, with results showing that the SiO2/Al2O3 = 4.0 ratio with thermal curing had the best behavior in aggressive conditions, making it suitable for tile production.

Engineering properties of self-cured normal and high strength concrete produced using polyethylene glycol and porous ceramic waste as coarse aggregate

Mohamed Amin et al.

Summary: This study explores the impact of curing regimes for SC on NSC and HSC, as well as the effect of high temperatures on SC concrete. The study suggests three self-curing regimes based on compressive strength, durability, and performance under high temperatures. The combination of 2% PEG and 10% PCWA achieved the highest compressive strength, while a 3% PEG dose showed optimal durability properties. Coarse aggregate replacement with PCWA up to 25% helped mitigate the negative effects of high temperatures on concrete properties.
