Modeling soil quality in Dakahlia Governorate, Egypt using GIS techniques

Ahmed S. Abuzaid et al.

Summary: This study used remote sensing and GIS techniques to evaluate soil quality in Dakahlia Governorate, north Nile Delta of Egypt. The results showed that 29% of the agricultural lands were classified as very high quality, 30% as high quality, 33% as moderate quality, 3% as low quality, and 5% as very low quality. The developed model provides a useful tool for monitoring soil performance in the studied area.

Soil Erosion Estimation in Arid Area by USLE Model Applying GIS and RS: Case of Oued El Hamma Catchment, South-Eastern Tunisia

Sabrine Jemai et al.

Summary: The study conducted in the Oued El Hamma Catchment in South-Eastern Tunisia estimated soil loss using the USLE integrated with GIS and RS methods to create a soil erosion risk map. Most areas in the catchment showed minimal erosion risk, while the South sector had high soil loss risk exceeding 5 t/ha/yr.

New Insight on Soil Loss Estimation in the Northwestern Region of the Zagros Fold and Thrust Belt

Arsalan Ahmed Othman et al.

Summary: Soil loss is a significant cause of land degradation and is important to consider for implementing mitigation measures. This study focused on the susceptibility of soil erosion in the NW part of the Zagros Fold and Thrust Belt and estimated soil loss and sediment yield in the Khabur River Basin. The findings provide valuable data for dam design and watershed management in the region.

Soil Quality Assessment Using Multivariate Approaches: A Case Study of the Dakhla Oasis Arid Lands

Salman A. H. Selmy et al.

Summary: This study evaluated soil quality in the Dakhla Oasis using multivariate approaches, finding significant differences between TDS and MDS in assessing soil quality, with WQI showing the highest sensitivity in MDS. The findings indicate that 80-85% of the land is suitable for agriculture, with 20-30% facing severe limitations in soil quality.
