Study on residue and dissipation of flurochloridone by LC-MS/MS in potato and soil under open-field conditions in the China's Qinghai Plateau

Wei Li et al.

Summary: The dissipation dynamics and residue distribution of flurochloridone in potato were assessed in this study. The results showed that the use of flurochloridone in potato in the Qinghai plateau was within the safe limits.

The Variability of Nitrogen Forms in Soils Due to Traditional and Precision Agriculture: Case Studies in Poland

Anna Podlasek et al.

Summary: This research highlights the importance of proper nitrogen management in agriculture for human health and crop production. Monitoring studies are necessary to expand knowledge on nitrogen forms in agricultural lands. Spatially variable fertilization can limit the movement of unused nitrogen forms to deeper parts of the soil and groundwater system.

Ecosystem Services of Vegetation Features as the Multifunction Anti-Erosion Measures in the Czech Republic in 2019 and Its 30-Year Prediction

Marie Balkova et al.

Summary: This study presents the information on ecosystem services evaluation of four research localities transformed from arable land to vegetation features-bosks. The evaluation includes various ecological functions such as anti-erosion measures, biodiversity increase, microclimate mitigation, and habitat provision for wildlife. The financial value of biodiversity increase can be assessed using the Habitat Valuation Method (HVM) based on expert valuation and cost replacement method.

Difficulties in Potato Pest Control: The Case of Pyrethroids on Colorado Potato Beetle

Imola Molnar et al.

Summary: The Colorado potato beetle is highly adaptable and resistant to over 54 different insecticides, leading farmers to increase the use of pesticides with different modes of action. However, this strategy increases the risk of intoxication in non-target organisms and environmental pollution, and is unsustainable for long-term pest management. Integrated pest management is proposed as a more feasible and sustainable solution.

Phosphorus Flows, Surpluses, and N/P Agronomic Balancing When Using Manure from Pig and Poultry Farms

Arno Rosemarin et al.

Summary: The pig and poultry industries continue to grow globally, with the EU having the highest relative meat production. The N/P ratio and background soil P levels determine if manure will lead to soil P surpluses. Effective manure management is crucial for the sustainability of these industries.

Potato Yield Response and Seasonal Nitrate Leaching as Influenced by Nitrogen Management

Chedzer-Clarc Clement et al.

Summary: Nitrate leaching is a significant environmental concern, especially for potatoes grown on sandy soils. This study found that under irrigation, the use of PCU reduced NO3--N leaching compared to PCU + urea, but both increased leaching compared to the conventional fertilizer mixture. Despite lower plant N uptake, PCU resulted in greater yields compared to PCU + urea, showing that the efficiency of PCU in reducing NO3--N leaching may vary depending on precipitation and irrigation timing.

Estimating Pesticide Inputs and Yield Outputs of Conventional and Organic Agricultural Systems in Europe under Climate Change

Livia Rasche

Summary: The simulation study on conventional and organic agriculture in the European Union using the Pest-EPIC model showed that current pesticide application rates may be sufficient to control pests and diseases, and there are significant yield differences between organic and conventional agriculture. Under climate change, the yield gap between the two management systems may widen for crops susceptible to a larger number of pests and diseases.
