SiN-Microring-Resonator-Based Optical Biosensor for Neuropeptide Y Detection

Summary: A silicon-nitride microring-resonator-based label-free biosensor was designed, fabricated, and characterized for neuropeptide Y (NPY) protein detection, achieving nanomolar sensitivity levels. The device, optimized for 1550-nm signal and fabricated using standard CMOS processes, demonstrated successful detection of NPY with a sensitivity of 0.1 nm/(mu g/mL) and analysis time of approximately 30 minutes. The sensitivity was further improved threefold using a sandwiched assay technique, detecting NPY at a concentration of 58 nM (0.25 mu g/mL).
