Six-month risk of Pneumocystis pneumonia following acute cellular rejection: A case-control study in solid organ transplant recipients

Seyed M. Hosseini-Moghaddam et al.

Summary: The study found a significant association between acute T cell-mediated rejection and CMV infection with post-transplant PCP risk. 60% of patients developed late-onset PCP after a complete course of prophylaxis, with a risk of ICU admission, allograft loss, and mortality. Anti-Pneumocystis prophylaxis following acute TCMR for at least 6 months may help reduce the risk.
