Flavonoids from Artemisia rupestris and their synergistic antibacterial effects on drug-resistant Staphylococcus aureus

Jiang-Er Lan et al.

Summary: This study identified five flavonoids from the traditional Chinese herb Artemisia rupestris L., which showed synergistic antibacterial effects against multidrug-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. Three of the compounds exhibited synergy when combined with norfloxacin against fluoroquinolone-resistant strains, and further investigations were conducted to explore the mechanisms of the synergistic effects.

Antioxidative Effects of Chrysoeriol via Activation of the Nrf2 Signaling Pathway and Modulation of Mitochondrial Function

Myung Hee Kim et al.

Summary: Chrysoeriol has a protective effect against H2O2-induced oxidative stress in RPE cells, increasing cell viability and reducing ROS production. It can also mitigate mitochondrial dysfunction caused by H2O2, preventing damage to mitochondria by upregulating antioxidant-related molecules.

Comparative analysis of the detoxification gene inventory of four major Spodoptera pest species in response to xenobiotics

Dries Amezian et al.

Summary: The genus Spodoptera is known for being polyphagous and destructive agricultural pests, with detoxification genes playing a crucial role in overcoming plant defense mechanisms. Despite a significant amount of expression data produced in the past decade for Spodoptera larvae in response to xenobiotics, the scattered information makes it difficult to clearly identify candidate genes involved in host plant adaptation and insecticide resistance. This review highlights the importance of detoxification genes in the genus and reveals a lack of genetic and biochemical information in some species, suggesting a need for further research in this area.

Resistance in the Genus Spodoptera: Key Insect Detoxification Genes

Frederique Hilliou et al.

Summary: Moth larvae, especially of the genus Spodoptera, are highly damaging pests to crops worldwide, with a focus on their resistance mechanisms to insecticides. Enzymes and transporters play a key role in their resistance, with the review comparing four species and highlighting specific genes involved in resistance mechanisms.
