Human induced pluripotent stem cell-based platform for modeling cardiac ischemia

Martta Hakli et al.

Summary: Ischemic heart disease is a major cause of death worldwide, and reperfusion therapy can cause further damage initially. A human induced pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiomyocyte (hiPSC-CM) platform was developed to model ischemia-reperfusion, showing changes in beating frequency and adaptations to oxygen conditions. The study also observed disorganization of sarcomere structures and increased expression of glucose transporter 1 gene, indicating the potential of hiPSC-CMs in modeling ischemia-reperfusion injury despite their immature phenotype.

In vitro model of ischemic heart failure using human induced pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes

Summary: A model of ischemic heart disease was successfully created using human induced pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes, exhibiting many characteristics similar to ischemic cardiomyocytes. This provides a new opportunity for the study of human ischemic heart disease.
