Surface wettability effect on aqueous lubrication: Van der Waals and hydration force competition induced adhesive friction

Yuanzhe Li et al.

Summary: The relationship between friction and wettability was revealed to mainly be influenced by the competition between attractive van der Waals interactions and wettability-dependent repulsive hydration interaction, which determined adhesive interaction strength and dominated sliding energy dissipation.

Tunable dielectric constant of water confined in graphene oxide nanochannels

Haochen Zhu et al.

Summary: The dielectric behavior of water in graphene nanochannels has been studied, showing a decrease in dielectric constant with narrower spaces. With higher oxidation concentration, wider interval spaces have a greater influence on dielectric constant. The number of hydrogen bonds and dynamic stability correlate with the disorder of water molecules in different nanochannels.

Abnormal Dielectric Constant of Nanoconfined Water between Graphene Layers in the Presence of Salt

Hossein Jalali et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of sodium chloride dissolution on the dielectric properties of nanoconfined water between graphene layers using molecular dynamics simulations. The results show that the out-of-plane dielectric constant of water increases with higher salt concentrations, while the in-plane dielectric constant decreases non-linearly. Interestingly, an abnormal increase in the in-plane dielectric constant is observed for channels with specific heights, possibly linked to the formation of a 2D-ice-like structure.

Visualization of solvation structure on Li4Ti5O12(111)/ionic liquid-based electrolyte interface by atomic force microscopy

Yifan Bao et al.

Summary: This study utilized frequency modulation atomic force microscopy to investigate the interfacial structures between an IL and a LIB electrode, successfully visualizing solvation structures at the interface. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy measurement was also conducted to measure the rate of Li-ion insertion/extraction on the interface.

Solvatochromic behaviour of coumarin 102 in PEGs + ionic liquid/water solutions: Role of solute-solvent or solvent-solvent interactions

Md Rabiul Islam et al.

Summary: Ionic liquids and their binary mixtures with judiciously selected co-solvents have been found to exhibit superior physicochemical properties, making them novel solvents for various technological applications. The solvation behavior of [bmim][Tf2N] + PEGs mixtures on the UV-vis and fluorescence response of C-102 dye has been studied, revealing interesting solvatochromic behavior. Further analysis using Bosch solvation model and multiparameter approach has provided insights into the solvatochromic behavior of C-102 in binary mixtures of IL/PEGs.
