High-sensitivity and versatile plasmonic biosensor based on grain boundaries in polycrystalline 1L WS2 films

The biosensor showed highly sensitive and selective detection of RNA sequences from the novel coronavirus, highlighting the immense potential of AuNP-decorated GB-rich 2DLMs in designing ultra-sensitive biosensing platforms.

Summary: A rapid and sensitive multicolor colormetric method for detecting hexavalent chromium ion in aqueous solution was established using gold nano-double cone@silver nanorods. The method showed high sensitivity and good linearity, with a detection limit of 1.69 μM. The color changes of the nanomaterial allowed for naked-eye detection of Cr6+ with significant accuracy.

Selective and sensitive colorimetric detection of p-aminophenol in human urine and paracetamol drugs based on seed-mediated growth of silver nanoparticles

Summary: A colorimetric sensor for selective and sensitive assay of pAP in human urine and paracetamol drugs was developed using silver nanoparticles that change color upon growth due to the reducing power of pAP. The sensor provides a dynamic linear range and low limit of detection, suitable for point-of-care diagnosis by naked eyes. The accuracy and feasibility of the sensor for daily applications were proven with a recovery rate above 94% for both urine and paracetamol samples.

Colorimetric response of lysine-caped gold/silver alloy nanocomposites for mercury(II) ion detection

Summary: A simple and rapid colorimetric assay for determination of mercury(II) ion in aqueous solutions was developed based on aggregation of gold/silver alloy nanocomposites. The method showed high specificity for Hg2+ and a low detection limit, with no interference from other environmentally relevant metal ions. The shift in absorbance ratio was proportional to Hg2+ concentrations in the range of 0.01-10.0 μM.

The results were validated against inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectroscopy (ICP-AES) measurements.
