Summary: The human calcium-sensing receptor (CaSR) plays a crucial role in maintaining Ca2+ homeostasis in the blood. L-amino acids such as L-Phe and L-Trp can increase the sensitivity of CaSR towards Ca2+, acting as allosteric activators. Binding of Ca2+ and L-Trp induces conformational changes in CaSR, ultimately leading to receptor activation.
