Medicinal plants from the 14th edition of the Russian Pharmacopoeia, recent updates

Alexander N. Shikov et al.

Summary: Herbal medicine in Russia has a long history, with the evolution of medicinal plant handling from handwritten herbalist manuscripts to Pharmacopoeias carefully traced, including discussions on the pharmacological effects, safety, and clinical data of traditional and officinal herbal plants. The 14th edition of the Russian Pharmacopoeia contains descriptions of 107 medicinal plants, with 25 new monographs added in comparison to the previous edition.
