GPCR signaling: role in mediating the effects of early adversity in psychiatric disorders

Praachi Tiwari et al.

Summary: Early adversity significantly affects the development of neurocircuits regulating emotionality, leading to increased risk of adult anxiety and depression. Disruption of G protein-coupled receptor signaling may play a central role in programming persistent changes at molecular, cellular, functional, and behavioral levels as a consequence of early adversity.

Selective postnatal excitation of neocortical pyramidal neurons results in distinctive behavioral and circuit deficits in adulthood

William E. Medendorp et al.

Summary: In genetic and pharmacological models, neural activity changes in developing neocortical network were observed. Excessive excitation of cortical pyramidal neurons during early postnatal period led to decreased social interaction and increased grooming behavior in adult animals. These findings suggest that enhanced pyramidal firing during development may selectively drive altered adult circuit function and maladaptive changes in behavior.

Sex differences in the elevated plus-maze test and large open field test in adult Wistar rats

Summary: Female rats exhibit less anxiety-like behavior in the EPM and LOF tests, with sex differences present in almost all behavioral parameters. Additionally, there is a moderate positive correlation between parameters in the EPM and LOF tests.
