This paper proposes a CCS-P2G coupling system for carbon recycling and energy flow coupling, facing challenges such as high adoption cost and risk of stranded assets. By establishing a multivariate function and analyzing the functional relationship among carbon-gas-electricity prices, the study aims to find the trigger price for sustainable development. Simulation results under different energy price uncertainties are used to propose deployment scale, production plans, and government incentives for the system.
In this paper, we propose a technology portfolio combined with carbon capture and storage (CCS) and power-to-gas (P2G) as a CCS-P2G coupling system (C-PS) to realize carbon recycling and energy flow coupling. However, the high adoption cost and the risk of stranded assets hinder the commercialization of C-PS. The uncertainty about energy prices that accompany a C-PS installation plays a pivotal role for the sustainable development of C-PS projects. To find the trigger price for the sustainable development of the system, a carbon-gas-electricity price multivariate function of system benefit is established and converted into a first-order function of the power output. Based on the function properties, the functional relationship among carbon-gas-electricity price are analyzed, and the solution space of the price packages under different scenarios are obtained. In addition, we simulate the system revenue under the uncertainty of single, double, and triple energy prices, and give the tipping point of power plant output. The deployment scale, the production plan of the system, and the incentive policy for the government are proposed under different price levels.
