Thermal and energy management prospects of γ-AlOOH hybrid nanofluids for the application of sustainable heat exchanger systems

S. Anitha et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the thermal performance of double-tube heat exchangers with two types of hybrid nanofluids, showing that TiO2-γ-AlOOH/water leads to a 50% improvement in heat transfer rate compared to TiO2-γ-AlOOH/ethylene glycol. However, the latter has a higher pumping power by 30%. Further analysis on the energy consumption of heat exchangers with ethylene glycol-based coolants on an industrial scale is needed for future research.

Numerical simulation of flow-through heat exchanger having helical flow passage using high order accurate solution dependent weighted least square based gradient calculations

Sonawane Chandrakant et al.

Summary: The helixchanger improves heat transfer performance by inserting a continuous helical fin in the annulus region, forcing the fluid to flow in a helical manner. Experimental validation and data analysis show the pressure drop and average heat transfer coefficient for the helixchanger at different Reynolds numbers.

Influence estimate of liquid lead-bismuth eutectic temperatures on operation and mechanical behaviors of sensible heat storage tank

Gang Wang et al.

Summary: Thermocline sensible heat storage systems utilizing liquid lead-bismuth eutectic as the heat transfer fluid were studied in this research. The initial hot LBE temperature was found to have a proportional relationship with the total heat storage and release durations of the tank. Adjusting the initial temperatures can help optimize the heat storage performance and mechanical stress of the tank.

A detailed hydrothermal investigation of a helical micro double-tube heat exchanger for a wide range of helix pitch length

Nidal H. Abu-Hamdeh et al.

Summary: The study found that applying a helix angle in the helical micro double-tube heat exchanger can enhance heat transfer, with an optimal effect varying with Reynolds number. Increasing Reynolds number leads to higher overall heat transfer coefficient, pressure drop, and pumping power. Additionally, increasing pitch length decreases OHTC, pressure drop, and pumping power.

Combination Effect of Baffle Arrangement and Hybrid Nanofluid on Thermal Performance of a Shell and Tube Heat Exchanger Using 3-D Homogeneous Mixture Model

Mashhour A. Alazwari et al.

Summary: The study found that adding nanoparticles to the distilled water or increasing the fluid's Reynolds number can improve the heat transfer performance in shell and tube heat exchangers, especially at a baffle angle of 135 degrees. Additionally, increasing the baffle angle resulted in more fluid blocking areas, leading to increased pressure drop and friction.
