Impact of Integrase inhibitors and tenofovir alafenamide on weight gain in people with HIV

Jordan E. Lake et al.

Summary: Obesity is on the rise in people with HIV, with integrase inhibitors and tenofovir alafenamide being associated with weight gain. Understanding the mechanisms of how antiretroviral therapies lead to weight gain is crucial for informed treatment decisions, as this weight gain can result in significant medical complications for PWH.

Modelling the cost effectiveness of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease risk stratification strategies in the community setting

Stephen E. Congly et al.

Summary: Utilizing 2D ultrasound shear wave elastography (SWE) for strategies proved to be the most cost-effective in diagnosing >= F2 fibrosis. For >= F3 fibrosis, using FIB-4 followed by SWE was the most effective and least costly strategy. Further evaluation is needed for the timing of repeating non-invasive strategies to enhance the cost-effective management of NAFLD.

Stratifying the risk of NAFLD in patients with HIV under combination antiretroviral therapy (cART)

Jenny Bischoff et al.

Summary: De novo steatosis is a major factor in NAFLD for HIV-infected patients, with BMI, cART drugs, and type 2 diabetes being independent predictors of steatosis progression. TDF is associated with a lower risk of weight gain and steatosis development, while TAF and INSTI increase the risk of steatosis progression.
