Increased nitro-oxidative stress toxicity as a major determinant of increased blood pressure in mood disorders

Kamila Landucci Bonifacio et al.

Summary: The study found significant associations between nitro-oxidative stress toxicity, inflammatory pathways, atherogenicity, and mood disorders, especially in patients with mood disorders. Activated oxidative stress pathways play an important predictive role in increased blood pressure, especially through increased lipid peroxidation and protein oxidation.

Summary: This study utilized machine learning techniques to construct a model incorporating risk/resilience, adverse outcome pathways, staging, and phenome of mood disorders. By analyzing factors influencing these features, two distinct patient clusters were identified, and a transdiagnostic model of mood disorders was successfully created.

FBXW7 mediates high glucose-induced SREBP-1 expression in renal tubular cells of diabetic nephropathy under PI3K/Akt pathway regulation

Lisha Li et al.

Summary: The study showed that FBXW7 mediated the high glucose-induced upregulation of SREBP-1 expression in renal tubular cells of diabetic nephropathy, under the regulation of the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway. Decreased expression of FBXW7 was found in renal tubular cells of diabetic mice, and in vitro experiments demonstrated that manipulation of FBXW7 levels could affect SREBP-1 expression in HKC cells. Additionally, activation of the PI3K/Akt pathway was linked to decreased FBXW7 expression and increased SREBP-1 expression in high glucose-stimulated HKC cells.

Construction of a nitro-oxidative stress-driven, mechanistic model of mood disorders: A nomothetic network approach

Denitsa Simeonova et al.

Summary: The study found that IgM responses were significantly higher in patients with major depression and bipolar disorder type 1, compared to controls, with major depression patients also showing higher IgM responses to OSEs than bipolar disorder type 2 patients. Analysis showed that 57.7% of the clinical phenotype variance in mood disorders could be explained by factors such as number of episodes, IgM to OSENO, IgG to oxLDL, and peroxides. Through a data-driven model, a new diagnostic class characterized by increased plasma LPS load, peroxides, autoimmune responses to OSENO, and increased phenome scores was discovered, indicating neuro-affective toxicity in 74.3% of mood disorder patients.

β-Arrestin1 Reduces Oxidative Stress via Nrf2 Activation in the Rostral Ventrolateral Medulla in Hypertension

Xing Tan et al.

Summary: The oxidative stress in the RVLM is associated with the overactivity of the sympathetic nervous system in hypertension and heart failure, which may be linked to the decreased activation level of Nrf2. Overexpression of beta-arrestin1 can reduce ROS production and facilitate Nrf2 activation, exerting an antioxidative stress effect.
