The ATM and ATR kinases regulate centrosome clustering and tumor recurrence by targeting KIFC1 phosphorylation

Guangjian Fan et al.

Summary: In this study, KIFC1 was found to be phosphorylated by ATM and ATR kinases under DNA damage conditions, promoting centrosome clustering and leading to tumor recurrence. Inhibition of KIFC1 phosphorylation can suppress tumor recurrence. The research suggests that centrosome clustering regulation may be a promising target for cancer therapy.

Loss of telomere silencing is accompanied by dysfunction of Polo kinase and centrosomes during Drosophila oogenesis and early development

Valeriya Morgunova et al.

Summary: Telomeres are nucleoprotein complexes that protect chromosome ends, and dysfunction can lead to cell growth arrest and premature aging. Overexpression of telomeric retrotransposon in Drosophila somatic cells can be cytotoxic and affect centrosome biogenesis and cell cycle regulation, suggesting a link between telomeric ribonucleoproteins and cell cycle regulators.
