A role for calcium-dependent protein kinases in differential CO2- and ABA-controlled stomatal closing and low CO2-induced stomatal opening in Arabidopsis

Summary: The study demonstrates the important role of calcium-dependent protein kinases (CPKs) in controlling stomatal movements in response to CO2 levels, affecting both stomatal closure in high CO2 conditions and stomatal opening in low CO2 conditions. Specifically, the results show that quintuple mutants of cpk3/5/6/11/23 have a defect in CO2-induced stomatal closure and low CO2-induced stomatal opening, with a reduction in K+ uptake channel activity.
