Vitexin prevents Aβ proteotoxicity in transgenic Caenorhabditis elegans model of Alzheimer's disease by modulating unfolded protein response

Dicson Sheeja Malar et al.

Summary: Vitexin acts as a neuroprotective agent by significantly extending the lifespan of nematodes, reducing the expression of Aβ protein, and modulating the expression of unfolded protein response genes.

Early Mitochondrial Fragmentation and Dysfunction in a Drosophila Model for Alzheimer's Disease

Xingjun Wang et al.

Summary: This study reveals that early mitochondrial dysfunction and other cellular pathologies in Alzheimer's disease contribute to later learning impairments. The Drosophila model proves to be an effective tool for investigating the mechanisms by which A beta 42 induces toxic effects on mitochondria and other cellular processes.

Humanistic burden among caregivers of patients with Alzheimer's disease or dementia in Japan: a large-scale cross-sectional survey

Shinya Ohno et al.

Summary: This study aimed to quantify and compare the humanistic burden of caregivers of AD/dementia patients with caregivers of patients with other conditions in Japan. The results showed that caregivers of AD/dementia patients in Japan experienced significant humanistic burden, and they were more involved in treatment decisions and finance management than caregivers of other conditions. Effective care and support are essential to relieve the burden experienced by the caregivers.

A novel tau-based rhesus monkey model of Alzheimer's pathogenesis

Danielle Beckman et al.

Summary: This study successfully simulated tau protein misfolding and propagation similar to humans in rhesus monkeys, along with observing biomarkers of neuroinflammation and neuronal loss. These findings provide hope for the development of new therapies for AD.

Tocotrienols reach the brain and play roles in the attenuation of body weight gain and improvement of cognitive function in high-fat diet-treated mice

Yugo Kato et al.

Summary: Tocotrienols have anti-obesity effects and can inhibit body weight gain and lipid droplet synthesis in high-fat diet-treated mice. They also tend to improve cognitive function, but do not modulate blood brain barrier-related protein expressions or antioxidative defense systems.
