Regenerated chitin reinforced polyhydroxybutyrate composites via Pickering emulsion template with improved rheological, thermal, and mechanical properties

Senay Yacob Baraki et al.

Summary: Using the Pickering emulsion platform, uniformly distributed regenerated nanochitin (RCh)/polyhdroxybutyrate (PHB) composites were prepared and studied for their improved thermal, mechanical, and rheological properties. The addition of 1.5% RCh significantly enhanced the thermal decomposition temperature, storage modulus, and tensile strength of the PHB nanocomposites. Overall, the introduction of RCh through Pickering emulsion technique provides a simple and green method for enhancing the properties of polymer nanocomposite materials used in packaging applications.
