Layup-only modulization for low-stress fabrication of a silicon solar module with 100 μm thin silicon solar cells

Dong-Youn Shin et al.

Summary: An innovative method is proposed in this study to interconnect thin silicon solar cells with virtually no thermomechanical stress, by using encapsulants pre-attached with low melting temperature metal ribbons. This method successfully fabricates silicon solar modules with 100 μm thin silicon solar cells, reducing breakage loss and increasing manufacturing productivity.

A new all-inorganic vacancy-ordered double perovskite Cs2CrI6 for high-performance photovoltaic cells and alpha-particle detection in space environment

Peng Zhao et al.

Summary: Cs2CrI6 exhibits superior stability, optical absorption, suitable band gap (1.08 eV), higher mobility (around 103 cm(2)/V), and lower capture cross-section compared to MAPbI(3). As a result, it achieves ultra-high power conversion efficiency for single-junction solar cells (22.4%) and monolithic all-perovskite tandem solar cells (26.6%), as well as excellent performance as alpha-particle detectors with high charge collection efficiency (CCE = 99.3%) and mobility-lifetime product (tau th = 4.99 x 10(-3) cm(2)V(-1)). The Cs2CrI6 devices also demonstrate exceptional proton irradiation resistance and show great potential for photovoltaic cells, alpha-particle detectors, and space applications.
