An ultrasmall infinite coordination polymer nanomedicine-composited biomimetic hydrogel for programmed dressing-chemo-low level laser combination therapy of burn wounds

Shihong Shen et al.

Summary: The combination of dressing management-chemotherapy-LLLT was proposed to promote burn wound healing, using a nanocomposite hydrogel that was transparent, had self-monitored pH-responsive drug release, and adapted to burn wounds (shape-remodeling, self-healing, and tissue-adhesion) with components like OHA, HLC-EPL, and Cur-Fe(III) ICPs. The nanocomposite hydrogel demonstrated high light transmittance at 904 nm, dynamic cross-linking efficiency, and assistance in the different phases of burn wound healing, resulting in a significantly shortened wound closure period and accelerated skin structure reconstruction.

Insulin's actions on vascular tissues: Physiological effects and pathophysiological contributions to vascular complications of diabetes

Jialin Fu et al.

Summary: This review provides a comprehensive summary of insulin's physiological and pathophysiological actions, as well as the associated signaling pathways in vascular cells, particularly in endothelial cells and vascular smooth muscle cells. Insulin plays important roles in regulating nutrient transport and communication in vascular cells through its receptors and signaling cascades, affecting systemic fuel metabolism and energetics. Targeted therapies to improve selective insulin resistance in endothelial cells and vascular smooth muscle cells are necessary to mitigate pathological processes such as endothelial dysfunction, atherosclerosis, and myocardial dysfunction.
