Modulating CoFe2O4 nanocube with oxygen vacancy and carbon wrapper towards enhanced electrocatalytic nitrogen reduction to ammonia

Chuang Wang et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates the excellent activity and stability of the hollow bimetallic CoFe2O4 nanocube in nitrogen reduction reaction, attributed to improved nitrogen adsorption and activation, unoccupied d orbitals of transition metal components, reformed electronic structure by oxygen vacancies, and electron injection facilitated by conductive carbon wrapper. Both experimental and theoretical investigations confirm the mechanism underlying the enhancement in catalytic activity, making the design strategy of C@CoFe2O4-x nanocube efficient and valid.

Promoting nitric oxide electroreduction to ammonia over electron-rich Cu modulated by Ru doping

Jiangwei Shi et al.

Summary: The electrochemical reduction of nitric oxide to produce ammonia using Ru-doped Cu materials shows superior performance compared to pure Cu catalysts, with increased Faradaic efficiency and yield rates. The Ru doping induces changes in the Cu d-band center, facilitating the hydrogenation step and reducing the desorption energy of ammonia for enhanced catalytic activity.

Degradation of gaseous unsymmetrical dimethylhydrazine by vacuum ultraviolet coupled with MnO2

Yuanzheng Huang et al.

Summary: In this study, alpha-, beta-, and delta-MnO2 were prepared using a uniform hydrothermal method and coupled with vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) for the degradation of gaseous unsymmetrical dimethylhydrazine (UDMH). The results showed that O2 and H2O were essential for UDMH removal, and the integrated process significantly improved UDMH removal and mineralization by ozone catalytic oxidation. Delta-MnO2 exhibited the highest removal rate and CO2 concentration, attributed to a large number of surface oxygen vacancies.
