Extended Wittrick-Williams algorithm for eigenvalue solution of stochastic dynamic stiffness method

Xiang Liu et al.

Summary: This paper proposes an efficient and reliable eigenvalue solution technique for analytical stochastic dynamic stiffness (SDS) formulations of beam built-up structures with parametric un-certainties. The method combines the Wittrick-Williams (WW) algorithm, the Newton iteration method and numerical perturbation method to extract eigensolutions from SDS formulations, demonstrating robustness and efficiency through numerical examples.

On the dynamics of nano-frames

Andrea Francesco Russillo et al.

Summary: Size-dependent dynamic responses of small-size frames are modeled and evaluated using stress-driven non-local elasticity and a consistent finite-element methodology. The exact dynamic stiffness matrix is evaluated for a two-node stress-driven nonlocal beam element, and a global dynamic stiffness matrix for an arbitrarily-shaped small-size frame is built using standard finite-element assembly procedures. The methodology is suitable for investigating free vibrations of small-size systems in Nano-Engineering.

An exact dynamic stiffness method for multibody systems consisting of beams and rigid-bodies

Xiang Liu et al.

Summary: An exact dynamic stiffness method is proposed for the free vibration analysis of multi-body systems, allowing connections between rigid bodies and beams of any shape or size. The research examines the role of different beam theories in the dynamic behavior of multi-body systems, providing exact benchmark results compared with finite element solutions. This study offers an efficient analysis tool for multi-body system dynamics, suitable for optimization and modal parameter identification.

Spectral dynamic stiffness theory for free vibration analysis of plate structures stiffened by beams with arbitrary cross-sections

Xiang Liu et al.

Summary: A spectral dynamic stiffness (SDS) model for plate assemblies stiffened by beams is proposed, with a sufficient generality to cover a wide range of applications. The method involves developing SDS formulations for different beam stiffeners using modified Fourier series and superposing their matrices onto those of plate assemblies. The accuracy and versatility of the proposed theory are extensively validated using the software ANSYS.

Support position optimization with minimum stiffness for plate structures including support mass ?

D. Wang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of a flexible point support on raising the natural frequency of a thin bending plate, analyzing the frequency changes caused by support movement and finding the optimal support design by solving eigenvalue problems. The results show that including support mass can significantly increase the minimum support stiffness required, while the optimal support position remains consistent.
