Effect of simultaneous application of chaotic laminar flow of nanofluid and non-uniform magnetic field on the entropy generation and energetic/exergetic efficiency

Lakhdar Aidaoui et al.

Summary: This study characterizes the efficiency and entropy generation of nanofluid forced convection flow with chaotic perturbations under the influence of a non-uniform magnetic field. The combined effects of chaotic advection, nanoparticles, and non-uniform magnetic field were found to enhance fluid flow performance. The co-effect of magnetic intensity, orientation, and application mode was shown to stimulate energy system performance, with entropy generation mainly attributed to thermal irreversibilities in laminar flow.

Effects of inlet velocity profiles of hybrid nanofluid flow on mixed convection through a backward facing step channel under partial magnetic field

B. Pekmen Geridonmez et al.

Summary: This paper numerically studies the mixed convection flow of hybrid nanofluid in a backward facing step channel with a uniform partial magnetic field, considering different inlet velocity profiles. The results show that the smallest convective heat transfer occurs in the step-centered partial magnetic field, and an increase in magnetite nanoparticles significantly affects convective heat transfer.

Heat transfer characteristics of free surface water jet impingement on a curved surface

Kuldeep Baghel et al.

Summary: Research on impinging jet involving air or submerged water is well-documented, however, there is limited literature on impingement of free surface liquid jet. This study presents the heat transfer characteristics of a free surface water jet impinging on a convex heated surface. Experimental results show that surface curvature affects heat transfer rate near the stagnation point, especially at higher Reynolds numbers.

Performance assessment of a thermoelectric module by using rotating circular cylinders and nanofluids in the channel flow for renewable energy applications

Fatih Selimefendigil et al.

Summary: The study showed that using rotating cylinders in the channel can enhance the power of the TEG module. A higher number of cylinders provide greater power enhancements in the module, and the inclusion of nanoparticles can effectively improve TEG power when the system performance is low.

Performance of TEG integrated channel with area expansion by using advanced passive techniques

Fatih Selimefendigil et al.

Summary: This study investigated the impact of flow separation on the power generation and conversion efficiency of a thermoelectric generator integrated channel flow with area expansion through numerical simulations. Results showed that using an eccentric conic object near the thermoelectric device and adding hybrid nano-sized particles in the heat transfer fluid can enhance system performance. Different parameters such as Reynolds number, expansion ratio, aspect ratio, location and size of the eccentric cone, and solid nanoparticle volume fraction were studied to understand their effects on fluid flow and power generation characteristics. The study also revealed that changing the object location is more favorable than increasing the size and aspect ratio of the cone for power generation, conversion efficiency, and pressure drop features.

Experimental and numerical investigation of jet impingement cooling onto a concave leading edge of a generic gas turbine blade

Marius Forster et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates through experimental and numerical heat transfer investigation that exposure of an impingement jet array to a crossflow decreases stagnation point heat transfer and overall heat transfer, but homogenizes local heat transfer distribution; a smaller separation distance enhances crossflow effects and generally increases heat transfer level.

MHD hybrid nanofluid flow comprising the medication through a blood artery

Wajdi Alghamdi et al.

Summary: The current study focuses on the laminar flow of copper and copper oxide hybrid nanoliquid in blood, studying the effects of MHD and heat source/sink on the flow pattern. The magnetic field plays a vital role in blood flow, with the study extending the existing literature by incorporating magnetic fields. Cu and CuO hybrid nanofluids are used for medication purposes, and the addition of a heat emission/absorption term helps maintain homogeneous temperature for blood flow. It is expected that this work will provide efficient outputs for medical purposes such as drug delivery.
