Model-free finite-time terminal sliding mode control with a novel adaptive sliding mode observer of uncertain robot systems

Tangzhong Song et al.

Summary: This paper presents a model-free finite-time terminal sliding mode control scheme for uncertain robot systems, utilizing a time delay estimation (TDE) technique to estimate the system's mathematical model and designing a novel adaptive sliding mode observer to compensate estimation errors. The scheme also includes the design of a nonsingular fast terminal sliding surface to accelerate convergence rate and the use of a boundary layer technique to attenuate chattering phenomenon. Simulation and experimental studies using Rethink Sawyer Robot validate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme, with both observer and controller stability strictly proven in the Lyapunov framework.

Model-Free High Order Sliding Mode Control with Finite-Time Tracking for Unmanned Underwater Vehicles

Josue Gonzalez-Garcia et al.

Summary: Various strategies have been explored to tackle the trajectory tracking problem of Unmanned Underwater Vehicles, with most controllers being model-based and requiring accurate knowledge of vehicle parameters. A model-free high-order sliding-mode controller with finite-time convergence was implemented and shown to significantly reduce power consumption of vehicle thrusters, with up to 50% reduction observed in computational results. The performance of the controller was validated through numerical simulations, demonstrating robustness even in the presence of high ocean currents.

Integral Equations Related to Volterra Series and Inverse Problems: Elements of Theory and Applications in Heat Power Engineering

Svetlana Solodusha et al.

Summary: This paper examines two types of Volterra integral equations of the first kind related to the inverse problems of controlled heat power systems dynamics. The focus is on studying the specifics of the classes of Volterra equations of the first kind that arise from describing nonlinear dynamics using the apparatus of Volterra integro-power series. The research area is represented by a simulation model of a heat exchange unit element, showing numerical results of solving the identification problem of transient characteristics and the importance of practical recommendations for linear multidimensional Volterra equations of the first kind.

A Precise Neural-Disturbance Learning Controller of Constrained Robotic Manipulators

Dang Xuan Ba et al.

Summary: An adaptive robust controller is proposed for high-precision tracking control problems of robotic manipulators with output constraints. By using a nonlinear function to transform the constrained control objective and deriving a robust nonlinear control signal, the boundedness of the main control objective is ensured without violation of physical output constraints. The control performance is enhanced with the adoption of a neural-network model and disturbance-observer-based control signal.
