Disaster Literacy and Public Health: A Systematic Review and Integration of Definitions and Models

Summary: This study aimed to develop a comprehensive definition and conceptual framework covering various dimensions of disaster literacy. Through literature review and content analysis, definitions and conceptual frameworks related to disaster literacy were identified, leading to the development of a 16-matrix integrative conceptual model encompassing mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery dimensions.

The Effect of Socio-Economic Status on Health Information Literacy among Urban Older Adults: Evidence from Western China

Summary: The study observed the impact of socio-economic status on health information literacy among urban older adults in Western China, finding that only a small percentage possessed adequate health information literacy. Factors like educational attainment, ethnicity, financial strain, as well as other aspects were strongly associated with health information literacy. The importance of addressing the health information literacy deficit and social gradient as crucial priorities in public health strategies for urban older adults in Western China was highlighted.

COVID-19 and Health Information Seeking Behavior: Digital Health Literacy Survey amongst University Students in Pakistan

Summary: Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, digital health literacy (DHL) has become a significant public health concern. This research aimed to assess DHL among university students in Pakistan, finding that a high percentage demonstrated strong DHL related to COVID-19. Factors such as gender, sense of coherence, and importance of information were significantly associated with DHL, while satisfaction with information showed a negative relationship.Focused interventions and strategies are needed to enhance DHL among university students to combat the pandemic.

Health Literacy, Digital Health Literacy, and COVID-19 Pandemic Attitudes and Behaviors in US College Students: Implications for Interventions

Summary: The study found that health literacy and digital health literacy were associated with COVID-19 related information access, attitudes, and behaviors among college students in the United States. Higher digital health literacy (DHL) was significantly associated with greater willingness to get a COVID-19 vaccine and the belief that acquiring the disease would negatively impact their life.

The Relationship between E-Health Literacy and Health-Promoting Behaviors in Nursing Students: A Multiple Mediation Model

Summary: E-health literacy has a significant direct effect on health-promoting behaviors through the use of social media for health information, online health information-seeking behaviors, and self-care agency. The overall model explains 46% of the total variance in health-promoting behaviors, highlighting the importance of e-health literacy in promoting healthy behaviors. Interventions to improve e-health literacy and strategies to promote healthy behaviors should be developed based on these findings.
