Children's oral health-related behaviours and early childhood caries: A latent class analysis

Miguel A. Simancas-Pallares et al.

Summary: The study identified two distinct clusters of early childhood oral health-related behaviors, one being favorable (74%) and the other unfavorable (26%). Children in the favorable cluster exhibited better oral hygiene practices, lower consumption of sugar-containing snacks and beverages, less frequent night-time bottle-feeding, and a higher likelihood of having a dental home. On the other hand, children in the unfavorable cluster had higher prevalence of early childhood caries, greater caries burden, more untreated disease, and worse parent-reported oral health status compared to the favorable cluster.

How Do Mothers Living in Socially Deprived Communities Perceive Oral Health of Young Children? A Qualitative Study

Amit Arora et al.

Summary: The study reveals that mothers have limited knowledge and awareness about the importance of baby teeth, a child's first dental visit, and seeking oral health care. Children's oral health and preventative practices are influenced by past dental experiences, culture and social class, as well as parental factors.

Parents' perceptions and related factors of the oral health status of Brazilian children enrolled in public preschools

K. Shihadeh et al.

Summary: The study found that factors such as low family income, mother being unemployed, child's feeding difficulties, infrequent tooth brushing, and pacifier use were all associated with parents' negative perceptions of their child's oral health status. These factors are crucial for implementing strategies to improve the oral health of children in public preschools.
