Summary: With the advancement of isothermal nucleic acid amplification techniques, the newly developed recombinase polymerase amplification (RPA) assay has shown promising diagnostic efficacy in different endemic settings, particularly for visceral leishmaniasis (VL) and post-kala-azar dermal leishmaniasis (PKDL). However, further improvement is needed for the diagnosis of cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL) using RPA method.
