Facile Preparation of Self-Assembled Chitosan-Based POSS-CNTs-CS Composite as Highly Efficient Dye Absorbent for Wastewater Treatment

Hongjie Zhao et al.

Summary: A novel nanocomposite based on octa-amino polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxanes (POSS), carbon nanotubes (CNTs), and chitosan (CS) was successfully synthesized for wastewater treatment, showing good stability and adsorption performance towards dyes. The maximum adsorption capacities of the composite for methyl orange and Congo red were 63.23 and 314.97 mg/g, respectively, demonstrating its potential applications in wastewater treatment and providing new insights for the preparation of self-assembled multicomposites.

Construction of Nanocrystalline Cellulose-Based Composite Fiber Films with Excellent Porosity Performances via an Electrospinning Strategy

Lei Ge et al.

Summary: Cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) are used as a reinforcing agent in polymer composites due to their environmental protection characteristics and nanocharacteristics. In this study, large-porosity composite nanofiber films were prepared using KH550-modified CNCs, PVAL, and WPU. The effects of CNC content, spinning voltage, curing distance, and advancing speed on the morphology and performance of the composite fibers were investigated, with the optimal conditions resulting in a composite fiber film with regular morphology and good spinnability.

Characterization and physicochemical aspects of novel cellulose-based layered double hydroxide nanocomposite for removal of antimony and fluoride from aqueous solution

Hanen Bessaies et al.

Summary: Novel adsorbents composed of cellulose with Ca/Al layered double hydroxide were prepared for the adsorption of antimony and fluoride ions. Various characterization techniques were used to analyze the adsorbents and the adsorption process parameters were investigated. The adsorption capacity of the CC(3)A nanocomposite met WHO guidelines for maximum contaminant levels in drinking water.

Pyrrolic N-rich biochar without exogenous nitrogen doping as a functional material for bisphenol A removal: Performance and mechanism

Shu Cai et al.

Summary: The study found that nitrogen configurations doped in the carbon matrix play a key role in activating persulfates, and successfully prepared pyrrolic N-rich biochar BDK900 with ultra-high specific surface area by converting waste bean dregs. BDK900 exhibited superior catalytic activity in persulfate activation, efficiently removing BPA. Surface-bound radicals and electron-transfer mechanism were discovered to contribute to BPA oxidation.

Preparation of magnetite-nanoparticle-decorated NiFe layered double hydroxide and its adsorption performance for congo red dye removal

Tarmizi Taher et al.

Summary: The magnetite-nanoparticle-decorated NiFe LDH (MNPs@NiFe LDH) synthesized through coprecipitation and hydrothermal treatment exhibited high crystallinity and uniform distribution of magnetite nanoparticles on its surface. MNPs@NiFe LDH showed a higher adsorption capacity for congo red dye removal from aqueous solution (79.6 mg/g), with the adsorption mechanism being governed by ionic interactions between the positively charged LDH surface and negatively charged dye molecules.

Comparative study for adsorption of congo red and methylene blue dye on chitosan modified hybrid nanocomposite

Rais Ahmad et al.

Summary: This paper synthesized an eco-friendly and low-cost chitosan modified hybrid Azadirachta indica leaves powder-Kaolinite clay nanocomposite and investigated its potential as an adsorbent for removing hazardous dyes from aqueous solution. The results showed that the nanocomposite had good adsorption capacity for Congo red and Methylene blue dyes, with the ability to be successfully regenerated multiple times. The study also found that the adsorption process followed pseudo second order kinetics and had thermodynamic parameters indicating spontaneous and endothermic nature.
