Band gap tailoring and photoluminescence performance of CdS quantum dots for white LED applications: influence of Ba2+ and Zn2+ ions

I. Devadoss et al.

Summary: Cadmium sulfide (CdS) is a promising material in the wide band gap semiconductor family for applications in imaging, optical, and optoelectronic fields. Incorporating Ba2+ ions into the CdS crystal structure results in a slight increase in particle size, due to changes in ionic radius, as well as a red-shift in the optical band gap. Additionally, the addition of Ba2+ ions leads to an increase in absorption intensity according to UV-vis spectral studies.
