Modified fibrous silica for enhanced carbon dioxide adsorption: Role of metal oxides on physicochemical properties and adsorption performance

S. M. Yusof et al.

Summary: The study investigated the effectiveness of FS loaded with CaO, MgO, and CeO2 for CO2 adsorption, observing changes in textural properties and basic strength upon metal oxides loading. Different carbonate species were confirmed by in situ FTIR studies. CaO-FS showed the highest CO2 physisorption capacity, while MgO-FS exhibited the highest CO2 chemisorption uptake. The physisorption activity depends on porosity and basic strength, while chemisorption performance is determined by basic strength and CO2 affinity.

A study on active sites of A2BO4 catalysts with perovskite-like structures in oxidative coupling of methane

Dahye Kwon et al.

Summary: The study revealed a correlation between oxygen properties of catalysts and their catalytic activities in oxidative coupling of methane (OCM), identifying adsorbed oxygen species (O-ads) and lattice oxygen species (O-lat(n) and O-lat(e)) as key active sites. O-lat(n) facilitates the production of carbon monoxide and dioxide from ethane, while O-lat(e) promotes the conversion of ethane into ethylene. Developing catalysts with abundant O-ads and O-lat(e) is crucial for achieving high performance in OCM.

Exploiting oxidative coupling of methane performed over La2(Ce1-xMgx)2O7-δ catalysts with disordered defective cubic fluorite structure

Davi D. Petrolini et al.

Summary: The La-2(Ce1-xMgx)(2)O7-delta catalyst shows high efficiency in the oxidative coupling of methane reaction, with improved C-2 yield and ethylene selectivity by adjusting Mg content and CH4/O2 ratio. Moreover, the catalyst can achieve satisfactory catalytic performance at lower temperatures and slower space velocity.
