Atomic-scale insight into the pyrolysis of polycarbonate by ReaxFF-based reactive molecular dynamics simulation

Qiang Liu et al.

Summary: The isothermal pyrolysis behavior of bisphenol-A polycarbonate under anoxic conditions was studied using ReaxFF simulations, which successfully reproduced the main pyrolysis products observed in experiments. The pyrolysis of polycarbonate was dominated by random chain scission, with carbonate groups being more vulnerable to high temperatures. ReaxFF simulations revealed reaction routes of various pyrolysis products and indicated that certain reactions like cyclic oligomer formation, hydrolysis, and transesterification were less likely to occur at extremely high temperatures.

Molecular model construction of Danhou lignite and study on adsorption of CH4 by oxygen functional groups

Hongqing Zhu et al.

Summary: The mechanism of gas adsorption by oxygen-containing functional groups (OCFGs) in Danhou lignite was studied through experiment and simulation, establishing a macromolecular model and determining the density of the lignite. Results showed that the adsorption of CH4 by OCFGs is affected by adsorption positions and directions, with different electrostatic forces impacting the adsorption capacities. The findings can be utilized in coal and gas outburst prevention and control.

A Study on the Effect of Coal Metamorphism on the Adsorption Characteristics of a Binary Component System: CO2 and N2

Hongqing Zhu et al.

Summary: The study investigated the multi-component gas adsorption characteristics of coals with different metamorphisms under binary gas environments. The results showed that CO2 had stronger adsorption strength than N-2, with DH coal exhibiting the highest adsorption strength. The adsorption selectivity of CO2/N-2 indicated the stronger competitiveness of CO2, with DH coal having stronger selectivity than DSC.

Thermal decomposition mechanism of nitroglycerin by nano-aluminum hydride (AlH3): ReaxFF-lg molecular dynamics simulation

Ying Zhao et al.

Summary: Nano-AlH3 changes the decomposition pathway of NG, with oxygen dissociation becoming the main pathway. Interaction between NG and AlH3 leads to a passivation layer dominated by Al-O. The reaction between NG and AlH3 is carried out through atomic diffusion, with C-Al bonds tending to form at high temperatures and N-Al bonds difficult to form, resulting in an increase in H2O yield in NG/AlH3.

Characteristics of lignite char derived from oxy-pyrolysis

Jianan Qi et al.

Summary: The impacts of temperature and oxygen concentration on char structure evolution during pyrolysis were revealed using Raman spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and BET characterization techniques. Char prepared under oxygen atmosphere showed higher reactivity compared to that under inert (N2) atmosphere, with the presence of oxygen reducing char graphitization at high temperatures. The presence of oxygen in pyrolysis improved pore volume and specific surface area, with a critical oxygen concentration observed at high pyrolysis temperatures.

Quantum chemical calculation of reaction characteristics of hydroxylat different positions during coal spontaneous combustion

Hongqing Zhu et al.

Summary: This study investigated the reaction characteristics of hydroxyl groups in coal molecules, revealing that the reaction pathways and thermodynamic parameters are dependent on the position of the hydroxyl group. The presence of hydroxyl groups can lead to the generation of water and oxygen-containing free radicals during oxidation reactions, providing insights for assessing coal spontaneous combustion risk and developing flame retardants.

Xinyu Wei et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the thermal degradation process of silicone grease at different temperatures using ReaxFF, showing that the final products can be divided into two main categories: small gaseous molecules and large-molecule products. The addition of oxygen during thermal degradation provided a new decomposition route, impacting the O/Si and C/Si ratio in the residue of silica grease.
